CARLINVILLE, IL - Mike Stephenson, 73, died at 10:25 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 8, 2013, at Carlinville Area Hospital. He was born Aug. 10, 1940, in Springfield, Ill., to Mack and Mary E. Weitzel Stephenson and they preceded him in death.
Survivors include two daughters, Stacey (Steve) Cromer of Littleton, CO, and Patia (Darin) Hargreaves of Minnetrista, MN; former wife, Jackie Smith of Springfield; six grandchildren: Austin, Carsyn, Camryn, Greyson, Julia and Charley; and one sister, Karen Stephenson of Springfield.
Mike was a member of the Golden Retriever Club of America. He loved raising, training and showing Golden Retrievers. He retired as a manager from Sears, Roebuck and Company, having worked at many stores. No services are planned. Memorials may be made to Sangamon County Animal Control Center, 2100 Shale Rd., Springfield, IL 62703.
