SPRINGFIELD - Lalah V. Baumann, 100, of Springfield, passed away Sunday July 14, 2013, at her home. She was born in Lyons, Neb., on March 8, 1913, to Laura and Guy Bundy. She was one of seven children; brothers, Mervin, Burt, Lee and Kent, and sisters, Beth and Nell.
A registered nurse, Lalah graduated from Ancker Hospital School of Nursing at St. Paul, Minn., in 1936, where she was employed until 1938. There she met and married Milton C. Baumann, M.D., on February 25, 1937. He preceded her in death in 1974. The couple moved to Springfield in 1938. They had three sons, Charles J. Baumann of Billings, Mont., Tadd K. of Springfield, and Dr. Thomas L. (wife, Brenda) of Birmingham, Ala.
Lalah was a member of the First Congregational Church U.C.C., the Ancker Hospital Nurses Alumni Association, the Springfield Art Association, the Abraham Lincoln Memorial Garden Foundation, the Illinois State Museum Society, the Illinois Symphony Orchestra Association, and a past member of the Capitol Circle of King's Daughters.
Surviving are Lalah's three sons, her sister, Beth, of Las Vegas, Nev., three grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.
Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers the family asks that any offerings be made to the Animal Protective League or to the Friends of the Sangamon County Animal Shelter. The family is being served by Boardman-Smith Funeral Chapel.
